Assistant Superintendent Transportation

The Belt Railway Company is seeking an Assistant Superintendent Transportation. Reporting to the Superintendent Transportation, the successful candidate for this position will effectively manage transportation employees in the Operating Department. Candidate is accountable for train and yard operations, safety, service and asset utilization. This position must cooperatively interact with other departments and external customers. The successful candidate will possess proven leadership skills, a demonstrated ability to provide leadership by example, and the skill set to develop tomorrow’s leaders by mentoring and coaching.
SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
- Min 5-7 years of stable employment experience required;
- Min 5 years supervisory experience in the Railroad industry
- Experience in conducting formal investigations, handling appeals, and arbitrary claims
- Familiar with FRA rules and regulations associated with Transportation
- Previous experience supervising employees in multi-shift 24/7operation preferred;
- Knowledge of computer-based billing and tracking programs preferred;
- Related 4-year degree is preferred (some college or professional training required);
- PC aptitude is required (Email, Word, Excel);
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.;
- Must be able to work variable shifts when position requirements dictate;
- Proven background in management skills self-development preferred;
- Working knowledge of managing employee relations issues required.
