A BRC Legend

Former Diesel Shop General Foreman Todd Ruddy was honored recently.

Renowned for his expertise in all facets of locomotives, his name was added to BRC 300 — one of the first locomotives he helped rebuild to operate on the hump.

An electrician by trade, he was a mentor to many throughout his 27-year career, which concluded in 2022.

Assistant Superintendent Pat McCarron notes how he worked closely with Ruddy.

“Todd was an integral part of my career,” McCarron said. “He saw something, and took the time and effort to teach me.”

General Foreman Nate Smith also is grateful to Ruddy for contributing to his development. He and McCarron organized the effort to honor Ruddy, who was on hand with family for the unveiling on Nov. 15.

Ruddy enjoys time with the team.
