Chacon, Ortiz recognized for Operation Lifesaver efforts

Switchman Joe Chacon and Sgt. Ramon Ortiz have a passion for safety.

Both were honored recently for their contribution to Operation Lifesaver, a safety organization dedicated to preventing civilian railroad incidents.

Ortiz has helped lead the effort to bring presentations to various audiences, including schoolchildren and teens. Chacon has presented more than any other Belt volunteer. Both received plaques to commemorate the outstanding number of presentations that occurred in 2019.

Operation Lifesaver is billed as the largest safety organization in the U.S.
