To resolve drainage and alignment issues, a new turnout was recently installed under the hump. The site also was regraded and a remote-controlled switch was added.
To facilitate the project, vital track was taken out of service for seven days.
A crossing near the hump also was moved farther south to enhance visibility of train traffic.
“It really was a good outcome,” Chief Mechanical and Engineering Officer Adam Brock said. “Transportation did a phenomenal job with coordinating the outage.”
