Belt spreads holiday cheer

The Belt helped area families in need Dec. 21.

President Michael Grace, Police Chief Gerald Conoboy, Switchman Matt Davidson and Sgt. Al Gentile teamed up with the Chicago Police Department’s 8th District, including Officer Jose Sepulveda, to donate Christmas gifts, treats and BRC swag to people in need.

The event occurred at District 8 Headquarters.

The children who received gifts are all members of Sepulveda’s after-school and summer programs, which help keep them safe and off the streets.

The families, who arrived in staggered groups to protect their health amid the pandemic, also enjoyed pizza, pies and holiday pastries with the police officers who serve and protect
them.

BRC is within the 8th District’s jurisdiction. The Belt has continuously engaged local law enforcement and communities. Conoboy invited members of Sepulveda’s youth groups to visit the Belt in the future.
