The FRA has recognized the Belt fully implementing positive train control.
In a letter dated Dec. 29, FRA Administrator Ronald Batory congratulated President Michael Grace, Secretary and Director of Compliance Harold Kirman, General Manager Percy Fields and the Belt’s entire team for what he called a “significant accomplishment.”
The Belt fully implemented PTC systems on all required main lines before the Dec. 31 deadline in accordance with regulations. The system is FRA-certified and fully interoperable.
Batory noted that PTC is now in operation on nearly 60,000 route miles across the country.
To implement PTC, the Belt overcame a unique set of challenges related to hosting numerous railroads.
