Jason Charbonneau is excited to share his knowledge and experience to help the Belt achieve its vision of continuous improvement. 

As field team leader, he will train and develop employees to enhance their performance, skills and knowledge of the rules. Charbonneau also will assist departmental leadership with assigned tasks.

Before starting in March, he had extensive experience in the industry. 

Charbonneau began his career in 1996 as brakeman with Conrail in Chicago. He quickly moved to conductor and then locomotive engineer. In 1999, CSX and Norfolk Southern acquired Conrail. Charbonneau worked for the latter outfit for more than two decades becoming a manager in 2002, including stints as a road foreman of engines, trainmaster, assistant terminal superintendent, terminal superintendent, assistant superintendent and superintendent of terminals.

From his early days as a manager, Charbonneau knew he had a passion for helping employees enhance their skills. With a thorough understanding of the rules, he felt confident teaching and motivating others.

“What stands out most in my career is when someone lets you know you made a difference,” he said. 

Charbonneau is confident his passion helping others will be well received. 

“Within a very short period of time here, I’ve noticed how employees are dedicated to making the BRC successful,” he said. “I want to continue that drive and help the employees and management team to reach their goals.”

Away from work

Charbonneau, 46, is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys riding motorcycles, snowmobiles and dirt bikes. He and his wife of 25 years, Stacy, enjoy camping with family and friends.
