Eight employees cited for going ‘Above and Beyond’

Eight BRC employees, including Patrick Foy, Jason Loebig, Bill Lutz, Andy Mangrum, Carlos Medina, Sean Nizolek, Joseph Wanda and Josh Windsor, recently received letters of commendation for pointing out potentially unsafe circumstances.

“The BRC wanted to acknowledge the importance of speaking up and keeping your head on a swivel,” said Manager of Human Resources and Labor Relations Caitlin Kerney. “They saw something, said something, and used their skills to bolster safety and prevent potential incidents.”

Lutz said, “The recognition means a lot.”

Wanda agreed, noting he appreciated having his responsible behavior acknowledged by managers and craft professionals.

“My goals are to work and train others to excel before I retire in the next decade,” Wanda said. “Time goes by so fast, so enjoy the journey.”

In addition to the letters, $1,000 donations were made in the names of Foy, Loebig, Mangrum and Nizolek to charities they selected. Loebig chose St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“Receiving this award is truly humbling, and I’m immensely thankful,” he said. “The company’s acknowledgement of my work motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence.”

Foy chose the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation.

“It feels good to be appreciated for doing the right thing,” he said.

Mangrum chose the Warrior Dog Foundation.

“It feels nice to be part of a team that watches out for others,” he said. “Whether you have a lot of time out here or you’re new, if we all look out for one another, it makes the job that much safer.”

Nizolek chose Dark Horse Dogs.

“I’m grateful for the honor,” he said. “It makes the hard work feel even more worthwhile.”
