From a country known for having one of the oldest and most extensive railroad systems, Farheen Ahmed, Java developer, fits right in at BRC since joining June 15.
She returned to hometown Chicago from India in January. Ahmed moved with her family to India, where she earned her degree in computer science engineering. She plans to become a part-time student at Northeastern Illinois University to complete her master’s degree.
When she interviewed with BRC, she immediately appreciated the family atmosphere. She recognized the role was different from the conventional computer programming jobs — something she liked.
“I am honored that I was selected,” Ahmed said. “I heard there was a lot of competition for the job. I feel at home and comfortable here.”
She looks forward to working with Jim Zalumsky, director-information systems, and Anita Baden, programmer/analyst, from whom she continues to learn the train system.
“I like to work hard,” Ahmed said. “If I have a goal to achieve, I will do everything I can to achieve it.”
She lives in Chicago with her husband, Irshad. She enjoys baking, reading novels and working with all forms of social media. The couple hopes to return to India for yearly visits to see family and friends.
“I would like to say thank you for all the help and support from everyone here,” Ahmed said, “and a special thanks to Anita.”
