Belt Police employees have begun wearing radon detectors.
Provided free of charge by the government as part of a homeland security initiative, the gadgets will aid the Belt Police in securing the railroad and community by warning officers of abnormally high radiation levels.
Heightened radiation levels can signal a radiation leak or the presence of atomic or chemical weapons.
Nine devices have been in circulation since October; their use is contingent upon Belt Police notifying the government of any heightened radiation detection.
