Smith takes on new role

Nate Smith is the Belt’s new assistant chief mechanical officer.

He has an extensive knowledge of the railroad’s locomotive fleet which he will leverage in the new role.

Formerly the general foreman-locomotive projects, Smith started at the Belt as an electrician in 2014.

“I am excited to help lead the Belt into the future,” he said.

In addition to budgetary and project responsibilities, he will oversee the diesel shop’s day-to-day operations and manage the foremen.

Smith said that he believes conflict is often the result of misunderstanding, and receiving feedback will be crucial to being on the same page.
