On Aug. 1, the Belt hosted 10 middle schoolers and two Girls Inc. representatives, with the goal of introducing them to railroading.
Director Business Development/Car Operations Mike Martinez led the group on a tour of the Belt’s offices. They also met Clerk Alyssa Mendez, a former conductor, and boarded a locomotive.
“They asked a lot of questions and were excited to be here,” said Designated Supervisor of Remote Control Operators Jim Scarsellato, who allowed them to spend time on a training simulator.
