A new safety awards program is in the works.
While the final details are still being worked out, the new program will be companywide as opposed to department- specific as it had been.
The awards, bestowed twice a year, will be given to employees who meet the criteria below. Those qualifications are in effect.
An online store where winners can select from an array of items emblazoned with the Belt logo is being set up. It will include apparel, coolers, backpacks, coffee mugs and other items. The item will then be shipped directly to the honoree’s home.
Qualifications:
- Zero personal injuries: An employee experiencing an incident resulting in a personal injury during a six-month qualifying period will not be eligible to receive the Safety Incentive Award.
- No disciplinary events: An employee experiencing a discipline event, including an FRA Revocation Event or BRC Revocation Equivalent Event, or a written reprimand during a six-month qualifying period will not be eligible to receive the Safety Incentive Award.
- No human-factor incidents: An employee found responsible, in connection with a human-factor incident — i.e. derailment, improperly lined switch, derailer, auto accident, etc. — during a six-month qualifying period will not be eligible to receive the Safety Incentive Award.
- Attendance: Employees with less than 90 percent attendance during a six-month qualifying period will not be eligible to receive the Safety Incentive Award.
