Belt Apps marks progress

The future is now at the Belt.

Belt Apps is a web-based application all employees and all departments use to make reports. The process of fully implementing the application is ongoing and is slated for completion next year, but it is currently live and in use.

The implementation of this application represents a centralization of data at the Belt, which will allow employees to access information from their desktop as opposed to searching for it in a file cabinet.

After full implementation, Belt Apps will have all the information from the AS400 system used by Transportation and redundant input of information into multiple systems by clerks will be eliminated. Application Support Manager Tiffany Hill estimates that more than 90 percent of information now kept on paper will be able to be filed and accessed via the application, which will have a positive impact on every department. That includes information such as air brake tests records, train schedules and manifests.
