Allergy tips from Ayanna

For many, spring is the start of allergy season. Some culprits include an uptick in pollen and insect activity. For others, it’s a year-round issue. Here are some things to keep in mind if you experience seasonal allergies:

• Dust in your home frequently.

• If you have pets, clean their hair and dander from your home.

• Change air filters regularly and consider a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter.

• Clean linens, including sheets and pillowcases, frequently.

• Consult your doctor about over-the-counter medication, and do not use medications that make you drowsy while on the job. Helpful medication can include antihistamines, eye drops and nasal decongestants.

• Hydrocortisone creams can help with insect bites and itchy skin.

• For those who are allergic to bee stings, keep an EpiPen with you and inform management or me that you are allergic to bees, so we know how to respond if you are stung.
