Beginning May 1, annual blood screenings and blood pressure tests became available free of charge to Belt Railway of Chicago employees.
“The blood tests are not only helpful to the person taking them, but also for their families and fellow employees,” said Mike Romano, director of police and risk management. “If someone is sick and doesn’t know or is avoiding it and something happens to them out here, it could cause issues for their loved ones, other employees and their families.”
Employees can undergo the tests at the Excel Occupational Health Clinic, located a few blocks from the yard, and can set up appointments to fit their schedule. The results will be mailed to the employee’s residence. If a follow-up is needed, the clinic will recommend one of its own doctors or share the test results with the employee’s personal physician.
“They are all willing to work with and for you,” Romano said.
To set up an appointment, please call 708-924-8000 or visit the Excel Occupational Health Clinic at 5015 West 65th Street in Bedford Park, Illinois.
