Borrowing from military tactics, President Michael Grace has encouraged a mission command philosophy. 

Engineer of Bridges and Special Projects Scott Schiemann said it manifests in Engineering as instilling a sense of ownership in employees, especially foremen. 

“It’s about empowering our people,” he said. 

Schiemann notes that foremen have responded well to the autonomy afforded them and additional responsibility.

“They are performing,” he said. “Their ability is shining through.”
