Plut saves daughter, thanks training

It’s a moment no parent ever wants to face: having their child in an emergency situation.

“It was just a normal day, and we were having dinner,” Track Inspector Bill Plut said.

That’s when he heard his daughter, Pippa, 3, choking.

Plut credits the CPR, first aid and emergency training he received with the Belt for helping him to save Pippa’s life.

Plut was able to remain calm and tend to her, using methods he was taught. He said the most effective aspect of training was that it helped him remain in control and not panic.

After Pippa was safe, Plut was able to be emotional. He held her and cried.

Plut has attended various training events. Most recently, he participated in CPR training led by Patrolman Young Lee. Plut praised Lee for his professionalism as he answered questions and offered hands-on experience to trainees.
