John Peters

Since his youth, John Peters has gone from assembling Lego bricks to building a 24-year career at the Belt around precision, problem-solving and adaptability.

After working at a Cadillac dealership, Peters joined the Belt as an assistant signalman and progressed into his current role as signal inspector.

Peter’s days now vary from correcting blueprints to ensuring the Belt’s signal assets meet specifications. 

“You have to get it right,” he said.

He also conducts testing in the Belt’s laboratory, where simulations are built to mirror field conditions and confirm accuracy and reliability.

Over the years, Peters says he’s enjoyed developing a strong sense of camaraderie with his teammates.

“I like my co-workers; everyone brings something different to the table,” Peters said.

In his free time, Peters enjoys 3D printing, woodworking and mountain biking with longtime friends such as Manager of Rules and Compliance Clint Jonas. Since 2017, Jonas and Peters have gone on various trails rides and traveled to Arkansas, Georgia and Minnesota to try different routes.
