Members of the Belt’s management team held town hall meetings on Oct. 19 for all three shifts.
Along with President and General Manager Percy Fields, speakers included Superintendent of Mechanical Adam Brock, Chief Financial Officer Brian Dilger, Superintendent of Safety Terry Hartwig, Chief Engineer Scott Schiemann, General Counsel, Secretary & Director Human Resources Christopher Steinway, Occupational Health Nurse Ayanna Williams and Director of Information Technology Bob Whitlock.
After Fields discussed volume projections for 2024, Hartwig talked about the newly established Safety Department, functional evaluations and the Safety Teaching Others with Purpose (STOP) policy.
Steinway shared information on the company’s attendance and drug and alcohol policies, and announced that the Belt will provide employees with a free membership that’s good at any Planet Fitness location. Employees will be responsible for claiming the taxable benefit.
Whitlock offered remarks on IT security, timekeeping and the BDO-administered service hub.
Schiemann outlined capital projects for 2024, and Brock talked about additions to the locomotive fleet.
Speakers addressed questions throughout the meetings, which will be held quarterly.
“It gives everyone an opportunity to talk to the management team and express themselves in a professional, productive manner,” Fields said.
