Good idea brought to fruition

Thanks to an employee safety suggestion, the Diesel Shop is a brighter place.

A contractor is in the midst of a completing project that will replace incandescent lights with modern LED lighting.

The new lights are brighter and more efficient, which is good for the environment and the bottom line.

The fixtures also are recessed, which removes the potential hazard of head bumps.

An employee wrote about enhancing lighting on the Diesel Shop’s safety board.

Assistant Superintendent-Mechanical Patrick McCarron believes the change is an example of strong communication at the Belt.

“Employees have a voice and can speak freely,” he said.

The top lights are replaced with the bottom lights left to go.
