Inaugural Family Day enjoyed by all

Employees and their families enjoyed Family Day June 18.

Cotton candy, popcorn, pizza, shaved ice and lemonade were on order along with numerous games and attractions.

General Manager Percy Fields was one of the first to cool off in the dunk tank while children enjoyed treats and then played in the bounce house.

Local police and fire departments visited, including a flyover from a Chicago Police Department helicopter and three mounted policemen on their horses.

BRC equipment was on display, allowing people to get a sense of what their loved one does for the company.

A DJ played music conducive to the party atmosphere.

Donning tie-dyed shirts, volunteers from the management team worked to ensure everyone had a fun day.

What are your thoughts on Family Day?

“The employees deserve it. It’s an opportunity to shake everyone’s hand and celebrate what truly defines the BRC. We’re a family railroad.”

— General Manager Percy Fields

“It allows employees to meet each other’s families. It makes the community stronger. I’m glad to see everyone come out.”

— Assistant Director of Safety and Compliance Mark Labbe

“The kids are having a blast. We’re really appreciative.”

— Machinist Steve Flounders

“It’s good music, good people, good food and good weather. We’re a smaller, family-oriented railroad and this is a chance to celebrate that.”

— Manager of Communications Jorge Guerrero

“The exhibits were a great opportunity for kids to check out the machines we use. It’s a great event, and I hope it happens again next year.”
