The Crandon/Oglesby Block Club, a local community organization, recently expressed its gratitude to the Belt for being a good neighbor and addressing its concerns. 

B&B employees removed several downed trees, overgrown vegetation and garbage from a wooded area near 104th Street and Oglesby Avenue in Chicago, according to Manager Structures Mark Ferguson. Employees also repaired a section of fence that was damaged by a fallen tree.

Club member Yvonne Bass said the effort was greatly appreciated and noted that the resident whose fence was repaired was thankful.

“You don’t know how happy you’ve made her,” Bass said. “The Belt Railway Company has proven that working with the community creates harmony.” 

Bass cited each member of the B&B team, including General Maintenance Foreman Juan Morales, Carpenters Mike Lewis, Josue Gaytan and Luis Perez and Plumber Elvis Medina and called them a “hard working crew” who were due a “big thank you,” along with the railroad. 

Ferguson is equally proud of the employees. 

“Juan and his team always answer when called on, no matter the difficulty of the task,” he said. “They are true team players and know how to get the job done safely and efficiently. The B&B team prides itself on making things better than they found them.”
