Schiemann to help bolster infrastructure

Engineer of Bridges and Special Projects Scott Schiemann’s title says it all.

His focus will be on managing projects related to the Belt’s numerous bridges and the Chicago Regional Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program. The CREATE Program represents a unique partnership between all six major railroads that operate in the region that’s goal is enhancing infrastructure and efficiency. Billions of dollars have been committed to 70 CREATE projects that have or will reduce traffic delays, improve air quality and bolster public safety.

With more than a decade of railroad experience and a civil engineering degree, Schiemann remains passionate about his vocation.

“I like seeing the project come together,” he said. “After it’s complete, you get to see what you’ve helped create.”

Schiemann arrives to the Belt after working for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad. He’s impressed by his new teammates.

“BRC is a great environment,” Schiemann said. “The people here are really team-oriented.”

He served in the Air National Guard, and the Chicago native has a son and daughter.
