Belt Track and Signal employees worked to CREATE and celebrated a cutover in June.
As part of the CREATE Program, they upgraded the North and South Proviso leads to mainline track.
The project, which ultimately will allow trains to operate at higher speeds and dispatchers to enjoy greater flexibility, also involved CSX and Indiana Harbor Belt.
The CREATE Program is a public-private partnership that began in 2003. Through a series of programs, it aims to make Chicago’s rail network safer, more efficient and better able handle traffic.
