Industry Clerk Mike Kunz expresses gratitude for how the Belt stepped up to the plate when he reached out about support for a girls softball team he coaches.
The Belt’s donation helped the John F. Kennedy High School team in Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood purchase helmets, bases, uniforms, balls, socks and other essentials.
“It makes our players feel better to look better,” Kunz said. “Thank you BRC for looking out for our girls. It lets them know someone cares for them.”
He’s been coaching for more than 20 years, including for his own children since they were toddlers, and has worked for the Belt for 16 years.
“Watching the kids grow into young adults and learn the values that sports can teach is fulfilling,” Kunz said, adding how playing sports can have a positive effect on young lives. “Sports kept me out of a lot of trouble growing up in the inner city, and they kept me wanting more.”
